A year ago we were featured guests at San Diego Comic Con— a pop culture convention so big it takes over the entire city for a week. They treated us like Royalty while we were there and even though we had a few hiccups— advice for anyone who is brought in as a guest— if you don’t like talking about yourself take the opportunity to do your featured spotlight panel on a subject that interests you and the crowd can relate to.
We had the most fun running around the city in the after hours with Number Two Son Joe who does the show every year with Superworld Comics selling vintage comics to the masses. This year son’s Two and Three will be working the show so it’s a shame we won’t be out there. I forgot to renew my courtesy badge for this year so we are not invited. Oh well, we have far too much work to do for us to take a week off and fool around the West Coast.
We also really enjoyed being Eisner Judges for the Retailer Award— choosing the “best” Comic shop in the world is a difficult task and if you were nominated and didn’t win understand the competition is beyond what you can imagine.
The city itself was mighty pretty, and we had a lot of fun going to Super7’s BOO-TIQUE which they had set up and devoted to classic monsters for the duration of the show just a few blocks away from the convention hall.
It was a great time and we hope to do it again sometime.
