NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959) Alfred Hitchcock
One of the things I like best about Hitch is that Hollywood is smart enough not to try and remake too many of his films. A couple of dismal failures have been tried but anyone with half a brain (and that’s giving Hollywood credit) knows you can’t remake perfection.
This is quintessential Hitch— domineering mother, innocent man wrongly accused, sultry blonde, and a killer villain in James Mason. It’s fast paced and respects the audience with something we don’t see much of today; a big budget spectacle unfold with a story under two hours.
