I get emails about the blog-- let's answer some of it here:
Hey Andy-- what was that great Spiderman chinese painting you had up on the blog the other day?
That's actually Japanese-- in 1978 Spider-Man was licensed by a Japanese TV Company for a show that was pretty awesome. Supaidaman as he was called was a lot different than his American counterpart. He was given his powers by a Spider-Alien or a Spider-God I don't remember which but his costume rocked-- he had narrow eyes like Steve Ditko had given him in his earliest comic appearances and he also had a giant robot that helped him out with all of the giant monsters Japan is constantly dealing with. It ran about 40 episodes and they were up on YouTube a few years ago and might still be. They're worth hunting down.
Hey Andy-- what comic cons are you doing this year? Hope to see you in Portland again!
Very limited schedule this year-- Veronica and I are special guests of San Diego Comic Con and I'll be doing Chicago Comic Con with Superworld Comics again this year but that's it. Unfortunately Portland Oregon i.e. Rose City Comic Con didn't invite us this year so we're sitting it out.
Hey Andy-- you dislike chains, okay, can you give a rube some advise on where to get some good food?
I do dislike most chains, there are a few that I make exceptions for. Breakfast-- I'd go to Jakes on West Boylston Street or Lucky's on Grove Street. For lunch-- Harry's is always a great pick and for dinner how about UxLocale in Uxbridge-- seriously amazing food and it's worth the drive.
Are you still teaching at The Worcester Art Museum/Mass College of Art or Emerson College?
I resigned from the first, was let go by the second and I'm on a hiatus from the third but you can take online classes with me simply by clicking the link over in the right column saying Take a Class with Me-- The Graphic Novel Classes are in full swing right now.
