I was reading through my morning news cycle and although I don't often read Entertainment news I caught news about the Batman TV Series GOTHAM getting renewed for a fifth and final season that said words to the effect that "Fans can finally breath again" or "After a harrowing week of waiting for word..."
I gotta say folks if this is the way you feel about ANY movie, book, tv series, or any other entertainment media, as William Shatner famously said to a group of fans at a Sci Fi Con in the 70s-- Get a life.
BETTER CALL SAUL is, in my opinion, the best show on TV. I'm looking forward to more episodes because they have a story to tell. But if the word came down that the show is cancelled my life goes on and I have three great seasons that I really enjoyed to watch whenever I want to.
Now I've not seen a second of GOTHAM. I don't care about it. No offense if you like it, maybe it's a great show, I don't like most prequels. I realize SAUL is a prequel but I've never seen BREAKING BAD so I don't have any thoughts about where it goes.
I don't understand the concept of just wanting more. More of anything. I don't get it. I have a good friend who is a big STAR WARS fan, so big in fact he waited in line for many hours to see those ones they made in the 90s. He came out of the first showing and got back in line to see it again. He called me and told me how great it was but I was skeptical. It was a prequel, and the third movie in the franchise RETURN OF THE JEDI was a pretty mediocre film. I had low expectations and when I finally saw it I wasn't surprised at how dull it was.
I don't care about more, I care about good. STAR WARS and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK were good movies. Are they brilliant? Nope. You want brilliant you'll need to reach out to Orson Welles, Hithcock, Kurosawa or Osu.
But sometimes good is enough, but seriously, there are more important things in the world than TV or movies.
