All right greatest might be pushing it-- but I make a damn fine chocolate chip cookie. I spent literally, like DAYS perfecting my beloved grandmother and great aunt's cookie recipe. When I was a kid they made these AMAZING soft chocolate chip cookies that were HUGE. Somehow they were a little crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. They didn't put nuts in them, I do.
So I started with a regular recipe and I tweaked it, a little more flour-- what if I used baking powder instead of baking soda? Don't.
What about salt? Maybe a little more? A touch of COLD water. A little more flour, what if I chilled the dough after it was done? Flat cookie. Nope. Bake right away-- taste-- ALMOST THERE-- repeat.
Like Dr Frankenstein pouring over the bodies I'd riffled from fresh graves I'd tweak this thing like there was no tomorrow until finally the perfect cookie sat before me.
It was worth it.
